Traffic police have set up checkpoints around the city to stop vehicles and see if drivers have permission to travel during the lockdown. On 13 April 2020, the Moscow government introduced a digital permit system aimed at further restricting movement. Under the scheme, which became mandatory on 15 April, people need to apply for permits to travel on a vehicle or public transport around the city.
