This magnificent photograph was taken during a flight of five Royal Air Force Machines ever hitherto inaccessible country in the snow clad Himalayas. The picture is not only a fresh illustration of the supreme reliability of British aircraft, but is also interesting as depicting the awe-inspiring country which the Marquess of Clydesdal will encounter during his proposed flight over Mount Everest (29,000ft.) next year. Their historic flight they passed over Mount Rakasposhi, which is 25,550 feet high.   • Tenzing Norgay (29 May 1914 – 9 May 1986), referred to as Sherpa Tenzing, was a Nepalese Sherpa mountaineer. Sir Edmund Percival Hillary KG ONZ KBE (20 July 1919 – 11 January 2008) was a New Zealand mountaineer, explorer and philanthropist. On 29 May 1953, Hillary and Nepalese Sherpa mountaineer Tenzing Norgay became the first climbers to reach the summit of Mount Everest.
