  • Boote Segeln Schiffe 12. Dezember 1967 – Großbritanniens erstes Polaris-U-Boot Resolution für 52 Millionen Pfund wird der Royal Navy übergeben: HMS Resolution, Großbritanniens erstes Polaris-U-Boot, wurde heute bei der Royal Navy in Dienst gestellt. Das für 52 Millionen Pfund gebaute U-Boot ist mit 16 Polaris-Raketen und sechs 21-Zoll-Torpedorohren ausgestattet. Es hat zwei Kapitäne und zwei Besatzungsmitglieder und ist das erste Schiff der Marine mit Doppelbesatzung. Jede Besatzung verbringt zwei Monate auf See auf Patrouille, die meiste Zeit unter Wasser.   • Feb. 29, 2012 - America s Latest Line Of Defense: The much feared Trident missile with its range of 4000 miles, now forms an essential part of America s defense strategy. The powerful missile with its atomic warhead is designed to be fired from submarines beneath the surface of the sea. Currently aboard some Poseidon submarines, the missiles are slated for use in the new class Trident nuclear submarine fleet due to come into operation in the 1980 s. Resolution, Britain?s first Polaris submarine, went into service with the Royal Navy today. Built at a cost of ?52 million, it carries 16 Polaris missiles, and has six 21inch torpedo tubes. It has two captains and two crews, and is the first ship in the Navy to have double manning. Each crew will spend two months at sea on patrol, mostly underwater. An underwater movie camera can be fitted to the deck to film it course. The missiles will be the equivalent of the American Polaris rockets with a range of 300 yards.
