  • RECORD DATE NOT STATED Air Force Security Forces members from the 28th Air Expeditionary Wing, Diego Garcia, fire at White Egrets near the flightline during Operation ENDURING FREEDOM. The Royal Marines are training Security Forces so they can take over the Bird Aircraft Strike Hazard Program (BASH). The BASH program is designed to reduce the number of Egrets and to harass the areas where they congregate around the flightline to prevent future aircraft strikes. There have been sixteen bird strikes since the beginning of the Operation ENDURING FREEDOM at Diego Garcia.
