  • August 9, 2025, Chalco, State Of Mexico, Mexico: During the celebration of the International Day of Indigenous Peoples in Chalco, State of Mexico, dancers from the state of Durango performed traditional dances such as the Matachines and the Guadalupanos. These traditional dances are a blend of indigenous and Spanish elements, which were incorporated during the conquest and have social and religious significance due to their tribute to the Virgin of Guadalupe. They even use pre-Hispanic elements such as rattles, drums, and other objects to generate constant noises during the dances.
