October 18, 2026, Brussels, Belgium: Just as in Paris, there was unrest throughout the day in the Belgian capital. At 10 o clock, several hundred students initially gathered at Brussels Central Station to voice their dissatisfaction with the situation in the French-speaking education system, as they have done in recent weeks. Other groups soon joined the protest, and after passing the Mont des Arts, the crowd - which had by then swelled to around 1,000 protesters - headed towards Midi station where the first confrontation with the police took place and the group was split in two. One group continued towards Anderlecht, where they were surrounded and taken away.
