Relatives perform the final rites of Suraj Timilsina, 32, using a symbolic effigy made of straw and barley grains after his body could not be recovered following the devastating floods, at Pashupatinath Temple in Kathmandu, Nepal, on Wednesday, September 2, 2026. Suraj, originally from Sindhupalchok, was involved in an import-export and transport business in Timure, Rasuwa, and was swept away by the floods. He is survived by his wife, Ayusha Timilsina, 27, and their six-year-old son and three-year-old daughter. As thousands remain missing and many bodies have yet to be recovered, families have begun performing final rites for loved ones without their remains. The floods have killed more than 1,000 people - ZUMAg200 20260902_zap_g200_004
